The Use of Technology in New York Rescue Efforts on September Eleventh
The Use of Technology in New York Rescue Efforts on September Eleventh On the eleventh of September, two planes flew into one of the most recognizable skylines in the world. Two high jacked planes were flown into the upper floors of One and Two-World Trade Center or more commonly known as the Twin Towers. At 9:50 that morning, Two World Trade came thundering down to the ground and shortly after that, One World Trade Center came crashing to the ground. With debris covering sixteen acres of lower Manhattan, and making it difficult for rescue workers to make it around the site, they turned to satellites, robotic cameras, and small lipstick cameras to look in voids where humans could not reach. The Fire Department of New York City and the City of New York worked close with spaceimaging and I ââ¬âcubed. Three-dimensional modeling was used in the search and rescue phase. This technology generated pictures that showed the area of ground zero in a three dimensional model. This let emergency planners get a better perspective of what ground conditions and difficulties they would face. [1] Three-dimensional modeling is currently used by the military to simulate war operations in areas where they may be deployed. They are now wondering if this type of technology would be great to be used for fire departments in a pre-fire model that would allow firefighters to simulate conditions prior to an emergency. In an interview with Congressman Curt Weldon, he stated ââ¬Å"When new technology is made available to our military ââ¬â our international responders, it must immediately be made available to our domestic first responders.â⬠Also after this national tragedy many powerful technology companies came together to provide their servic... ...ws people broadcasting this news all over the world. Satellites helped to relay the signals from New York City to all over the world so people could witness this generationââ¬â¢s biggest historical event. Days after the collapse, satellites too pictures of lower Manhattan to show the debris field and what area of the east the possible contaminated air was going over. These technologies will be helping our troops who will be fighting in a foreign land to help preserve our rich history of freedom. In this paper, I discussed some of the technologies that emergency rescue personnel used to search the debris of ground zero for possible trapped people and eventually people who perished in the collapse. Also I showed how many different agencies could assemble in a short time and assemble their resources to go do a job on such an enormous job.

Childcare Center Director Essay
Do you enjoy working with children? Is a question that I like to think of when it comes to working in the field dealing with the responsibilities of taking care of children. Today, there are more needs for children to be taking care of and learning about why it is so important to have a good education. I can remember when I was about ten or eleven years old, I use to babysit children during the summer, I would teach them their ABCââ¬â¢s, how to count, and recognize numbers, shapes, sizes, and their colors. Being a Childcare Center Director is my dream career, because I wanted to ensure that my children will be taught and learn why it is so important in having a good education. I will not only have a Childcare Center to sit and watch children just to earn an income, I want to ensure the parents that my Center will benefit their child or children that this is an educational center as well. Today, Childcare Directors are among one of the highest paying job in the United States, according to the http://www.bls.gov/ooh/management/preschool-childcare-centers-directors.htm (visited December 19, 2012). Childcare Directors are expected to grow by eight percent between the years of 2008-2018. A Preschool and Childcare Center Directors is an institution of early childhood education for children between the ages of three-to-five year old. Directing a Preschool/Childcare Center is exhausting and can also be complicated at times when you have a problem that involves the matter with a parent and one of your employees. It is your responsibility to make that your staff understands the responsibility in handle and dealing with problems that have occurred. It is a dedicated job, but you must have the desire love and work with childrenââ¬â¢s. What do they do as a Director? Is one of many question people tends to ask and wonder about. Being a Childcare Director is not just a job sitting behind a desk, they have many responsibilities to tend to such as, providing a clean, safe and educational environment. For example, they have to hire and training staffs, communicate with the parents, employee and childrenââ¬â¢s on a day-to-day base. But the most important of their job is to ensure that the staff is well trained and that they are well qualified to meet and follow the centerââ¬â¢s rules and guidelines. They have to make sure that they comply with the state and federal laws. To be a Childcare Director they also must meet certain requirements that are set among the state laws, depending on the location and state that you desire to work in. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (www.dfps.state.tx.us) , that anyone serving as an administrator of a Childcare Center in Texas must hold a Childcare Administration License. Depending on the location or state, you have different requirements and standards to meet. The Directors are required to have at least a Bachelorââ¬â¢s Degree, some even required to have Masterââ¬â¢s Degree. Being a Childcare Director you have the opportunity to earn a certification but you are not required to have one. According to the Bureau of Labor (www.bls.gov) the highest paying states in Childcare Center Director are District of Columbia, Massachusetts, New York, California, and Alaska. Comparing to others daycare positions a Daycare Directors have the highest wages, they have almost 20,000 more per year than just been a Daycare Center employee. You can at least expect to gross out between $39,000 to almost 43,000 a year, in which that means you making between $20.00 to $22.00 an hour. Since Childcare Directors have the responsibility of the financial management of the centers, with their salaries this means that they will be able to develop a budget, manage the accounting and over sees accounts, payable and receivable. Being a Childcare Directors plays a major role in the world today. As you can see working as a Childcare Director is not just a sit down or working behind a desk job, you have to be active, ensuring parents that your center is not only a Childcare center, but a center to where their child will be taught and learn the basic of what it will take for them to have a better education. You are the sole owner and responsible for whatever goes on in your facility under your care, rather it is setting up meetings, dealing with the parents or seeing about the children. You are responsible from the time your doors are open until closing. So as you can see that why I love to work with children, because I want to make sure that once they leave my daycare, they can have something to look forward the next and to their future. Implications of Information and Communication Technology...
Implications of Information and Communication Technology for Business Time and geographical factors have a huge affect on the communication methods we use. In the business world time is money, and no matter how far u need to communicate to, it normally has to be done quickly and efficiently. This is where Information Systems (IS) and Information Communication Technology (ICT) have a huge impact on businesses nowadays, especially large scale organisations. Currently, Local Area Networks (LANs) are becoming more common in normal size businesses, and large-scale organisations tend to use Wide Area Networks (WANs), intranets and extranets. A LAN is a computer network that spans a relatively smallâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦An intranet is a network based on TCP/IP protocols (just like the Internet). An intranets web sites look and act just like any other web sites, but the firewall surrounding an intranet fends off unauthorised access. Accessibility is usually only for the organisations employees and/or others with authorisation. Like the Internet itself, intranets are used to share information. Secure intranets are now the fastest growing segment of the Internet because they are much less expensive to build and manage than private networks (LANs/WANs). Installing an intranet should cut costs down for producing, accessing and distributing information within an enterprise, as well as making employees more flexible and efficient. Feedback will be faster within the organisation which means that work shall get done much quicker and with better efficiency. As well as using intranets, some organisations find using extranets even more efficient. An extranet is an intranet that gives limited access to people outside the intranet/organisation. You can access an extranet only if you have a valid username and password, and your identity determines which parts of the extranet you can view. Extranets are becoming a very popular means for business partners to exchange information. For example Ford has an extranet with their suppliers, which allows the suppliers to gain access to the intranet toShow MoreRelatedInformation Technology for Business Success: the new way to communicate There is no doubt that1500 Words à |à 6 PagesInformation Technology for Business Success: the new way to communicate There is no doubt that the present time is the Technology era when the use of technological inventions dominates all different aspects of life: computer, cellular phones, world wide web, radio and satellites.
